Harp and fiddle duet
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can you move from one area to another during a wedding day?
Yes - please let me know in advance and allow enough time to move the harp and set up in the new location. Additional charges may apply if I am required to drive to another venue.
-
What harp do you play?
My instrument is a Scottish lowland harp (clarsach). It is particularly well-suited to traditional tunes but versatile enough to play my own arrangements of music of your choice. I will use amplification in a larger venue or where there is background noise.
-
Do you play with other musicians? I regularly play as a duo with a fiddler. If you would prefer this option please let me know
-
Can you play outside?
Yes, providing there is suitable protection against sun and rain and it is not too cold. I also need a flat, dry surface to position the harp on. Sound does not carry well outside and thought should be given to the availability of a power point.
-
How many breaks do you take? How long are they?
I normally take a break after 45-60 mins of playing. Depending on the number and length of sets, the breaks are between 10 and 20 mins long.
-
My favourite tune is not on your list. Will you be able to play it?
I am always happy to add new pieces to my repertoire. Please let me know at least one month before the ceremony about any special requests to allow the time for me to acquire and practise the music. If it has to be purchased I will add the cost to my fee.
-
How much space do you require?
About 2m x 2m
-
Do you have Public Liability Insurance and PAT tested equipment?
I have Public Liability Insurance as a member of the Musicians' Union. All my electrical equipment is PAT tested.
-
Do you bring all your own equipment?
If amplification is required I bring my own amplifier and extension leads.
