Robert Douglas Kerr - Harpist Edinburgh

About Me

About Me

"We got married at Inchcolm Abbey and the harp was the perfect music to suit the setting. Douglas is always smiling and was so helpful"

I play a Scottish lowland harp, often given the Gaelic name clarsach. It's a smaller and simpler instrument than its orchestral cousin and particularly well suited to traditional music, although versatile enough to be capable of playing suitable arrangements of contemporary tunes and songs.

What I like about the small harp is its simplicity, versatility and portability! The sound is able to be heard without being overwhelming.

It's a real privilege to create an appropriate atmosphere through music, and to be part of such an important landmark in a couple's life.

I am also a pianist and organist, and for many years led Sounds Braw ceilidh band. I enjoy Scottish country and ceilidh dancing.
